Kayla Mary O'Mara
March 31, 1989 - January 24, 2006
KAYLA O'MARA was a standout runner at Goodrich High School in Goodrich, Michigan. She and her twin sister Kaitlin charged onto the Michigan high school running scene in 2003 when they were freshmen at GHS. Kayla led the cross country team to its first ever Cross Country State Championship by finishing 2nd in the state amongst Division 3 schools that year. She would go on to help Goodrich win a total of 5 State Championships; 3 in Cross Country and 2 in Track.
Kayla was more than just a great athlete; she was a beautiful, thoughtful, caring person who demonstrated tremendous empathy for others. She inspired others to do their best and had a positive impact on the people she met. She was greatly loved by her family, friends and teammates, and admired and respected by her competitors. Her beautiful smile and her endearing laugh will be missed by all of us who knew her.
